LIVERPOOL HEART & CHEST HOSPITAL LAUNCH FESTIVAL
LIVERPOOL HEART AND CHEST HOSPITAL LAUNCH FESTIVAL
As the NHS celebrates its 60th birthday this year one Liverpool hospital has a celebration day of its own lined up. The Cardiothoracic Centre (which hopes to be granted Foundation Trust in November of this year) is to change its name and as of July 1st 2008 will be known as the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital - NHS Trust. To commemorate the occasion, a Festival is to be held in the hospital grounds on Saturday 5th July 2008 and everybody is welcome.*
Raj Jain who took up the post of Chief Executive at the hospital on 1st April 2008 is thrilled to be at the forefront of the hospital that was elected 'Top performing hospital in the country for "overall patient care" for the 2nd year in succession' and says "I am in awe of the skills and expertise of our dedicated teams and I am privileged to be the Chief Executive of such a dynamic and progressive hospital" He sees the name change as "an excellent opportunity to promote Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital as a leading specialist hospital that is moving forward to become a national & international leader in cardiothoracic care"
The Festival promises to be a fun filled day for all the family and will play host to many events such as exhibitions from Merseyside Police, Fire and Ambulance Service, face painting and plenty of children's entertainment. For the adults there will be guided tours of the Hospital including visits to the X-Ray department and Operating Theatres,* various health checks, tai chi and salsa dancing taster sessions plus music from the Liverpool Male Voice Choir and much, much more. Refreshments will be on sale and admission is via the main entrance on Thomas Drive and is free of charge, as are all the events.
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool women die younger than elsewhere in England and men fare little better (Joe Riley/Liverpool Echo/26/06/2008) - The Festival is a brilliant opportunity to promote health issues and raise awareness of the dangers of bad diet, tobacco and excessive alcohol as there will be various information stands and health checks on the day.
